From April 14th to 17th, 2024, Dr. Despoina Angelaki, a valued member of our team, travelled to Stockholm to attend the NordTEMhub/ARTEMI Workshop on Three-Dimensional Electron Diffraction. This workshop, hosted by Stockholm University, delved deep into the realm of electron crystallography, particularly focusing on three-dimensional electron diffraction techniques (3D-ED/MicroED) for the structural analysis of crystalline specimens.
Exploring Cutting-Edge Techniques
Participants at the workshop submerged themselves in a comprehensive exploration of electron crystallography, encompassing both theoretical understandings and practical applications. The agenda covered a wide array of topics, ranging from fundamental discussions on data collection to intricate methodologies for structure determination. The significance of the workshop was underscored by the diverse representation it attracted. With 45 participants hailing from 10 different countries, the event truly showcased its global relevance. Among the esteemed speakers was Prof. Xiaodong Zou, a renowned figure in the field and a member of the Nobel Committee for Chemistry. Dr. Angelaki had the honor of meeting Prof. Zou during an enlightening session he led on the Introduction to 3D-ED, further enriching her experience at the workshop.
