COMPUTATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT CRYO-EM ANALYSIS AND OPEN DATA MANAGEMEN
A fully operational cryo-electron microscope has the capacity to generate an average of approximately 0.3 terabytes of data per day. Moreover, the analysis of this data can result in scientific datasets that are triple in size, as based on conservative estimates drawn from PLK’s previous experience with a smaller, 200 kV automated microscope. Therefore, this Work Package (WP) primarily focuses on the computational aspects and data management required to accomplish Specific Objective #3. It encompasses the transfer of knowledge and the application of computational methods for the study, analysis, storage, and dissemination of cryo-EM-derived data. The specific task objective is to establish a dedicated cryo-EM computational pipeline, in alignment withthe EU Digital Agenda for 2025.
